BRANDS

These are just some of my highlights. Wanna see something specific?
sarah@sarah-hardcastle.com

Agency: Wieden + Kennedy London.

We created a new Pan-European brand platform for Leffe beer: “Bring more to the table.” a philosophy for savouring the deeper things, like a quiet beer with an old friend.

Directed by Gary Freedman.
Stills by Sam Wright.

Co-created with Wendy Richardson & lots of very talented W+K people.

Agency: Saatchi & Saatchi London.

Working on and winning the John Lewis/Waitrose pitch was very much A Big Deal, and we were acutely aware of the responsibility of creating the very first piece of work for the supermarket.

We introduced the new ‘GOOD’ brand platform to the world with the delicious flavours of the new Japan ready to eat range. Featuring a joyfully bold new visual style and tone of voice across outdoor, print, digital and radio.

The work continued into the festive season, with a cheeky halloween crossover and an adults-only Christmas party bursting with the good stuff.

Created with Wendy Richardson.
Stills by Jo Sidey.
Film by Autumn de Wilde.

Agency: Wieden + Kennedy London.

We helped launch a shiny new platform for the McDonald’s family brand - ‘It’s a Family Thing’.

Coming in at the production end of the project, we weathered the tail end of COVID to produce a couple of TVCs and some digital assets for Maccie’s in Canada. (Shout out to Wendy for single handedly managing the shoot when the entire team got quarantined!)

Directed by Alex Hulsey.
Co-created with Wendy Richardson, Michelle Lim & Andrea Li.

Agency: 72andSunny New York.

Grubhub wanted to thank restaurants for their hard work during the pandemic, while also differentiating themselves from their competitors.

We created the platform ‘We Serve Restaurants’ to write a love letter to the real people that keep Grubhub going: the restaurants. Because after all, without grub we’d just be…hub?

The campaign launched with a 60s TVC and multiple social assets, plus OOH and an ongoing commitment by Grubhub to the Restaurant Strong Fund.

Directed by Henry-Alex Rubin.
Co-created with Wendy Richardson, Amanda Burger & Colleen Horne.

Etsy needed a follow up to their beautiful 2019 Christmas campaign, and a proposition that would remind shoppers the site is great for more than just seasonal gifts.

Working closely with the New York team, we bought ‘Why Buy Boring?’ to life for the US and UK markets, creating 8 films in total plus a suite of social assets.

And we proved it is humanly possible to remote shoot in LA from Amsterdam for 4 nights. Success!

Co-created with Wendy Richardson, Mackenzie Keck & Paul Curry.
Directed by the incredible Malik Vitthal.

Like Meat

Agency: 72andSunny Amsterdam.

One of those strange ideas that you always dream of making: sportswear for keeping your chicken nuggets warm.

After winning the Like Meat business, we followed up our OOH campaign with some quality social content.

Made using recycled food delivery bags, the nugget pocket is the ideal way to enjoy your vegan nuggs on the go.

Co-created with Matt Purcell & Constanze Bilogan.

Like Meat

Agency: 72andSunny Amsterdam.

Vegan brand Like Meat needed an all new platform for their delicious plant-based products. Our strategy focused on communicating the win-win nature of choosing food that tastes good while doing good.

That’s where ‘So Good It’s Good’ was born, promoting Like Meat as the indulgent vegan brand that’s all pleasure and no guilt.

We launched the platform with a suite of key images shot by Bon Appetit favourite Alex Lau in New York.

Plus, a whole host of headlines and TOV guidelines to make even the most carnivorous of meat eaters drool.

I worked on the Google account across various products for 2 years while at 72. Of course, none of it got made. Chuh. It happens. But I had a lot of fun along the way.

Here’s one of my favourite prototypes, for a brief about the joy of searching. Music written and performed by yours truly.

Swedish bank Klarna wanted to tap into the million dollar pet retail market in the USA, so we teamed up with The Glue Society to create the world’s first ‘Pup-up’ grooming salon for dogs AND their owners.

Over three days we invited some of the hottest doggies on the inter webs to step onto the stylists plinth, working with a photographer to capture glamorous headshots of all the finished doggle-ganger looks.

We also created an out of home campaign, including a dog friendly mural with real chew toys attached.

Oh, and we got the world’s strongest man Thor Bjornsson to carry a tiny dog in a giant fluffy Klarna doggy bag on the New York subway. Cute.

More Klarna!
This time the brand wanted to position themselves as the go-to payment provider for savvy shoppers who want to try before they buy.

So we recruited the queen of the reality check Celeste Barber, to host our Home Shopping Network-style show and share the fun with millions worldwide.

Bringing to life eBay’s global proposition ‘Fill your cart with colour’ for the UK market was right up my street.

Highlights included convincing YouTube legend LadBaby to do some exercise, Godzilla destroying a children’s birthday party, and a Christmas spot that could have been directed by Michael Bay.

Co-created with Wendy Richardson, Lee Boulton and Renée Lam.

I helped Robinsons Fruit Squash bring to life the proposition ‘play is thirsty work’ with a sweet film about friendship that got the nation all teary eyed.

It did pretty well at Cannes, too.

Write a global rallying call empowering teenage girls to fight for their rights? Go on then. Coming up with the line ‘Girls Get Equal’ felt pretty good too.

Working with the charity Plan was an incredible experience, and hearing the stories of young women fighting for equality in some of the toughest parts of the world was a privilege I’ll never forget.

Agency: Brothers and Sisters

I worked on multiple spots for Sky TV, the UK’s biggest advertiser, while at Brothers and Sisters.

Many of them featured Sky’s long running celebrity ambassador Idris Elba.

Fun fact: He probably isn’t going to play Bond :-(

Classical radio station Classic FM needed a campaign that would appeal to casual classical listeners. We came up with the idea that most people are aware of famous classical pieces from film and TV, but don’t actually remember the name of it.

The campaign rolled out in cinemas across the UK, out of home and print.

As part of our Come Out For LGBT campaign for the charity Stonewall, we worked with Amazon to get Alexa to come out as an LGBT ally.

This included building a brand new skill for the device, which would helpfully (and anonymously) answer any questions you might have about acting as an LGBT ally or about your own sexuality.

We launched the initiative with a very special LGBTQ+A at Cannes, using Alexa to anonymously pose questions from the audience to our panel.
